Recent SUP client WE Drive-Ins (WE) is reinventing the great American drive-in experience by reinvigorating prime Class A office parking lots as venues for first-run films. WE will launch publicly Feb. 11 with the screening of Oscar-contender Minari at the historic former Sears lot at Fourth Street and Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica, California.The Santa Monica WE Drive-In experience, the only venue showing new movie releases within 15 miles, includes food partnerships with Mendocino Farms, Tocaya Organica, and Crustacean Beverly Hills’ sister restaurant, Tiato.
WE also presents an unique analog and digital advertising opportunity. For example, moviegoers checking in and when parked at their reserved parking spots are surrounded by 8-foot-by-8-foot banner walls that VIZIO and local ventures are sponsoring. These walls are analogous to the outfield wall ads inside a baseball or football stadium. Additionally, each vehicle receives a “swag bag” containing premium beverages, popcorn, and vouchers from local and national businesses. Thirty-second video ad spots are available before every movie screening, and there’s an email-list and targeted-advertising opportunity from having captured the name, age, address, vehicle, and other attendee information.
WE’s recent launch has generated significant press coverage in local, regional and national publications, and already organizations from Century City law firms to Santa Monica High School are discussing private buyouts. Expansion plans are already in process to open at a prominent Hollywood location as well as in downtown Los Angeles as WE scales and ultimately transitions into an ad-tech venture by leveraging its physical presence.
